A photography podcast, hosted by Ian

Learn photography the way you actually shoot it: outside, on foot, one decision at a time.

Walk, Shoot and Learn is a guided audio series for anyone who owns a camera and wants to actually understand it. No slides, no login, no scrolling. Just a walk, a voice in your ear, and enough silence to let you work.

The premise

Let me show you. Then you walk.

Every episode is a short, real walk, recorded as if you're beside Ian the whole way, learning one idea about exposure, light, or composition, and then given real time, marked and timed, to go try it yourself before the episode moves on.

It isn't a lecture. It's not a textbook read aloud. The show is built on three things:

01

Learn by walking

Every lesson happens in motion, outside, the way you'll actually be holding a camera when it counts.

02

Learn by doing

Each episode hands you a real, physical practice, and the silence on the recording to go do it, not just hear about it.

03

Learn by feeling

Technical control is the starting point, not the destination. The questions matter as much as the settings.

Season One

Thirteen walks. Thirteen field practices. One camera-first season.

Season One opens with a short episode on preparing your gear and mind, then moves through thirteen main episodes covering exposure and composition through light, color, movement, editing, and story. Each main episode has a companion Bonus Practice Episode. These are short, unguided field exercises that send you out to prove what you just learned, on your own. Episode One's is paired with an extra hands-on session for finding manual mode on your own camera.

Season One is currently in production. Nothing is published yet, this site will fill in with real listen links as episodes go live.
